A short distance from the town of Porto Novo, in Ribeira das Patas, a new reality is emerging on the island of the mountains - VILA DAS PATAS, a complex that combines a fascinating balance between urban and rural, between the built and the natural.
The 12 houses are developed along a hillside. Access to this complex is via a free communal space, with support equipment on this lower elevation, creating a space away from the other houses in the vicinity, as well as the movement of the main road.
Taking advantage of the privileged relationship with the region's imposing mountainous landscape, each house is integrated into its surroundings through sloping roofs that follow the topography of the land. A large terrace opens onto each house, articulating with the living room and kitchen, which allows for an important relationship with the various green areas of the plot (cultivation, vegetable garden or larger endemic trees).
The use of local materials and excellent finishes further enhances the integration of the whole into this unique natural environment of comfort and tranquility. In terms of construction, the complex is designed on an ecological and sustainable basis.
The 12 houses have evolutionary principles that allow them to change their basic typology. They are divided into two typologies, A and B.
Typology A - plots 1 to 9: this typology comprises a basic program with a living room, kitchen, bathrooms and two bedrooms. The space on the ground floor can be adapted from a garage/storage room to two bedrooms and a bathroom, making the typology vary from T2 to T4.
Typology B - plots 10 to 12: this typology has the same basic program as typology A, plus a floor with two bedrooms and a bathroom. The evolutionary principle allows this typology to vary from a T4 with garage/storage to a T6.
