TRADITIONAL STONE MASONRY CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES

Starting from the attention to the fieldwork material of the project 'Preservation of the Traditional Built Heritage of Cape Verde - Traditional Stone Masonry Construction Techniques,' the editorial for the book that synthesizes all the work done was developed.

This material included survey drawings of the ruins, photographs by category, diagrams, scripts of traditional knowledge/doing relating to the construction processes and their variations, among others.

The book's imagery was then based on materiality as a fundamental element of the research in question, attributing all protagonism to it in the object. As it is a manual, visual support was sought with explanations using colour coded diagrams, for example in the Identification of corner stones and counter cornerstones and also highlighting with a blue background box two procedures illustrated with photographs at each step, the Execution of Dry Stone Masonry and the Stone Masonry with Earth Execution.
