'Memories for the Future - Projecting independence in the feminine' is a scientific and artistic project that aims to give voice to women's participation in Cape Verde's struggle for independence.
The process of constructing Cape Verde's history highlights a symbolic male domination. Therefore, the work of reversing this univocal perspective, telling other stories, giving voice and face to the "forgotten" figures of history, creating other heroic subjects, has been the continuing strength of this project.
The project was launched during the SWI Working Independence Week, held from December 9th and 11th, 2015 at the University of Cape Verde and the Palácio do Povo, Mindelo, São Vicente island. The program included:
- Dialogues first voice with women in the struggle (Amélia Araújo, Lilica Boal, Lina Tavares, Zezinha Chantre, Tutu Évora).
